Goodchap's: "More Than Just Treats"

I have been wanting to write this blog post for a while now and have put aside half written blogs for this one! Not only is this because Casper adores their fishy treats, and they have gorgeous products... but they are the definition of an amazing small business!

Goodchap's is a family run business based in Somerset and was founded in 2018 by father and son, Mark and Liam Goodwin, along with Beth Goodwin, who is behind the beautiful illustrations, and their gorgeous romanian rescue Ralf (two favourite instagram accounts of mine). They rescued Ralf through Amicii Dog Rescue, which is a UK based charity supporting a dog rescue shelter in Transylvania, Western Romania, where they care for up to 200 dogs at any one time.

Mr Fisher's, Mr Cook's & Lil'Scamp's Treats: Treating a dog in need too!

When you buy any of these three treats, Goodchap's will send treats to dogs in need at Amicii Dog Rescue. I feel this shows just how much of a great small business they are because it makes treating your own dog that bit more meaningful and important! It's also a small act which goes such a long way for these dogs.

These are great little packets of nibble sized treats, and for those with cats I would highly recommend them. My Eaton absolutely LOVES them. They're all made from 100% fish and so they are natrually rich in Omega 3 and are great for dental care, due to their rough surface causing an abrasive action when they are crunched!

MORE TREATS!

Some other treats of their's we have tried and loved are the Fish Fingers, Catfish Twirls, Whitefish Jerky and their large long last Fish Sticks! These are more suitable for helping with dental hygiene as they are a bit bigger, but the longer lasting Fish Stick will obviously take the longest for them to eat due to the density of it, and with more chewing comes more teeth cleaning! Their breath might not smell very fresh after, but chewing a natural chew will do more good for their dental health, over any marketed "dental chew" which can in fact do more harm than good! These are great little rewards which are are nice quick treat for your dog or cat... but of course for cats this would be their equivalent to the long last Fish Stick! Eaton ate one of the short fish fingers while Casper enjoyed his extra large fish skin stick... and Casper was over the moon with it!

We will definitely be trying more of their products... the next ones I have my eye on are the Training Treats and the extra long Fish Fingers!

Made In Britain, Responsibly Sourced & Plastic Free Packaging!

I love a company and their products even more if they take responsibility and take actions to be more environmentally friendly, which is Goodchaps through and through! They get their fish from established and trusted merchants in Britain and their notebooks are printed and hand bound in somerset, which is where they are based, so production is kept local! Also their packaging is plastic free and non of their waste goes to landfill. All of their treats are packaged in pouches which are free of plastic, compostable and recyclable, and they are coated in a naturally derived water based coating. and their notebooks are packaged in plastic free biodegradable bags, as they are made from starch!

They also have wonderful stationary and cards with the most lovely illustrations, perfect for any dog lover and stationary obsessed person like myself! I I have the "Ruff Notes" notebook and have used some of their cards for occasions and they are always loved! For all of these reasons, and because my furry lot love their treats, we wanted to share with you all why you should 100% check them out and try their products, as you are also supporting a small business which is so much better and more important than going to a bigger company!

Thank you for reading and I would really love to see and hear about you and your pets trying and enjoying their products, make sure to tag Casper's instagram account or Facebook so we see it!
